The Younger Mining Professionals Scholarship Fund (YMPSF) has this 12 months awarded $210,000 to 44 college students pursuing mining-related applications at post-secondary establishments throughout Canada.
“This 12 months, 2022, is the fifth 12 months of this system, which Iamgold and Orefinders Assets began in 2018 with $12,000 in scholarships awarded to candidates,” stated Anthony Moreau, director of the YMP Scholarship Fund and CEO of American Eagle Gold (TSXV: AE). “Now, we’ve 24 sponsors contributing to the fund, which is a mirrored image of the laborious work of the group operating the charity, the standard of the scholars receiving scholarships and the generosity of our sponsors.”
Based on Moreau, 100% of the cash contributed by the 24 donors is disbursed on to the scholars. The scholarship fund is chaired by Stephen Stewart, chairman of the Ore Group.
“The Younger Mining Professionals Scholarship Fund was established to assist fund and promote mining and mining-related schooling to Canada’s subsequent era of mining business professionals,” Moreau stated. “Our mandate is to draw younger folks to Canada’s exploration and mining business by supporting their tutorial research in engineering and earth science applications.”
The scholarships vary in worth from $500 to $15,000.
